The Door Is Not One Way
Lytchgate exists at the doorway between art and technology.
We believe generative AI is an artistic medium—not an artist and not simply an imitator. Like film, animation, or paint, it becomes a medium through which people create personalities, performances, environments, and experiences.
The passage also works in both directions. Humans enter the machine world through imagination, identity, and intention. Machines enter the human world through displays, interactive environments, connected devices, and robotics.

Crossing the Threshold
Our work explores the challenges involved in bringing these worlds together:
- Giving artificial personalities a consistent voice and point of view
- Connecting separate AI systems into a unified performance
- Moving interactive characters beyond the screen
- Giving digital systems awareness of physical environments
- Translating machine decisions into controlled physical actions
- Creating technology that remains expressive, useful, and human
Selected Work
Tech Talk with Cindy
Cindy is a continuing AI performance created through multiple coordinated systems. She became the first AI to present at a 1 Million Cups business conference.
Interactive Experiences
Lytchgate has created games, web environments, personality-driven experiences, interactive kiosks, and multiple 3D displays that bring digital characters into shared spaces.
IoT-to-LLM Bridge
In late 2023, we created an early bridge between conversational AI and connected devices. Its public implementations and later branches have collectively recorded more than 10,000 uses.
Virtual and Physical Worlds
Our experiments range from metaverse environments and interactive AI characters to the White Rabbit garden simulator, which gave a digital personality awareness of activity in a real location.
Continuing the Passage
Lytchgate continues to explore robotics, machine learning, artificial personality, interactive media, virtual worlds, games, and other emerging technologies.
Some become practical tools. Some become art. Often, they become both.
Lytchgate creates the doorway between human imagination and machine possibility.
